The Women in Food and Agricultural Leadership Training Forum & Expo (WOFAGRIC) and Gold in The Soil Awards is a pro- AgriWomen recognition, empowerment and capacity building platform that has for the past three (3) years, given a SHARE OF VOICE, to women in Agriculture, across the country.

An Agrihouse Foundation initiative and organized in partnership with MOFA and NFFAWAG, the 2-day event, which moves from Region to Region annually, aims to boost, train and build the capacity of women in agriculture, through:

Mentoring and Coaching
Focused Group Engagement
Motivational Talks
Presentations
Competence based and soft skills development sessions, among others.
Documentary series and awards
2021— WOMEN IN AGRIC – THRIVING & MAKING WAVES, BEYOND THE PANDEMIC

This year, the two-day event will be held in WA, in the Upper west Region, from Wednesday, June 23-Thursday June 24, 2021, on the theme, “WOMEN IN AGRIC – THRIVING & MAKING WAVES, BEYOND THE PANDEMIC,” The event this year, seeks to enable women in agribusiness develop, improve and sustain new agricultural practices and as well thrive to develop their business within this pandemic era and beyond. It has thus been laced with soft skills and competence-based training sessions designed to provide a platform for knowledge transfer from industry stalwarts to participants.

The Day 2 of the event is the:

Gold in the Soil Award, an award component of initiative, which seeks to appreciate outstanding achievements of women producing along the entire agricultural value chain (from production, processing, transportation, mechanization, branding, marketing, etc). It is essentially an awards scheme that showcases the efforts of women within their communities and beyond, celebrate their achievements and contributions to economic growth of their community and country, through a documentary series.

The spotlight is focused on the nominated women’s farms and businesses, and tells their story through a documentary series that dwells on passion, drive, excitement, challenges, short- and long-term vision, in a way designed to inspire and mentor viewers.

The style of the event is to rotate the venue from Region to Region annually, thereby unearthing heroic women in each Region and ultimately supporting to build a strong and organic data of women who are passionately working to make our lives better by putting food on the table.

Women recognized for Awards are either nominated or selected. This year, the focus is on the UPPER WEST REGION –

Do you know of any woman or women working the Agric value chain sector in the Upper West Region?

We shall visit her farm and tell her story through our documentary series.
The categories include: Passion for the Farm Awards; She-Innovates Award; Climate-Smart Women Project Award; Outstanding Woman in Extension Services Award; The Super Woman Farmer Award; Award (Woman Agripreneur Award); Royal Agro Award; Diamond in the Rough Award; Feed to Food Awards – (Poultry, Livestock & Fisheries); The Change Champion Award; Lady of The Region Export Award; Development Partner Award; Princess Carla Award; Gold in the Soil Award; and She-Operates Award.
